Special Acceptance Underwriting (SAU)

Special Acceptance Underwriting initiates dialogue between you and the Underwriter to obtain a quote. Risks will go to SAU when certain answers in the proposal warrant Underwriter review.

You can easily manage an SAU using the Notes tab of each risk and the tiles on your Dashboard. The images below illustrate the SAU process.

In most cases the process is expected to be simple and direct like below.

Here, Underwriters have produced a quote. When Underwriters have produced a quote, you have the option to bind. A Quote Document will be available for you to review with your client prior to binding. We encourage you to confirm and accept commissions and taxes prior to reviewing the Quote Document with your client to avoid delays in binding.  You will find the quote under the dashboard tile SAU Quoted Risks.

Underwriters have produced a Quote

Where Underwriters require more information from you, the process requires more time investment.

SAU's that are not quoted are an active process that will continue until you and Underwriters are satisfied. Underwriters will demonstrate interest in the risk by communicating through the Notes tab. You will be required to select the Modify button from the Risk Summary page each time the risk comes to you in order to unlock the file and address the information request; once complete, select Generate Quote to forward the risk back to Underwriters.

Where Underwriters have declined a risk, the risk file is no longer active.
